Hello everybody! A brand new member here. Naturally, this is my very first:D

I have a PowerPC 7500 G3. It has become somewhat of a paperweight during the recent years. I would like to bring it back to life. Into the wonderful world of Linux, actually.
I am considering YDL. Although I have heard many good things about it, I would like your input/opinion on the subject.
Also, the machine has an aftermarket CPU upgrade/480 MHz. The previous CPU was also G3. Would this upgrade present any problems?

Thank you in advance for your advice!

Although some PPC Linux distros will say that aftermarket CPU's aren't supported; many of them do work with Linux. It won't hurt to give it a try anyways.

Welcome to the board :) . Hope you enjoy it here.

I have a 7500 with an XLR8 G4/450 upgrade card, a Sonnet ATA/66 IDE card, an ATI Radeon video card, and an OrangeMicro Firewire/USB card. It runs YellowDog Linux 2.3 beautifully. YDL is faster and more stable than MacOS 9, I'll never go back now.
