Hey everyone,
I just installed slackware 8 and i was having trouble starting x-windows....

i used x-config and specified all the monitor, video card, etc.

and i use startx to start, well, x...

the only problem is that every time i try and use the mouse, it flits really fast and only on one horizontal path on the top of the screen.

since i can't use the mouse, im forced to quit x-windows :(

can anyone help?

First check to see if you have GPM (general purpose mouse - console mouse driver) running as that is known to cause problems with the X mouse driver.

ps ax | grep gpm

will tell you.

Disable the gpm service if necessary.

What type of mouse? PS/2, Serial or USB?

Could you please post the InputDevice Section of your /etc/X11/XF86Config (-4).
