Hi all - I have SuSe 8 installed on a pentium II box and I want to get rid of it... I tried to use MS-DOS fdisk, but it failed. I also tried to use the win2000 cd, but it also failed..
When I installed Linux I chose to format the whole disk into linux! Is there a way to recover back?
Thanks

Run the Suse installer again. When you get to the point that you partitioned the drive, just delete the existing partitions. Save the changes and shutdown. You can then install whatever you want.
you could use a low level format tool to write zeroes to the drive
like this one (http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/getFile.asp?ref=undefined&id=14472) It says it just for gateway drives, but it works on any hard drive. (I know this because I used to work support for gateway) it takes a long time to run but it will completely erase every bit of info on the drive
