Hi people.

I've recently re-installed the drivers for my graphics card (with a little help from this site!), but i think i might have got something wrong. I donloaded this file NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-.i386.rpm. I have since realised that my machine is an i686, and there is an equivalent i686 download available for my card. What does i386 and i686 mean, and what is the difference between them? Would my card perform better if i put the i686 version on? If i was to install the i686 version instead, should i update from the RPM's or just install over the top?

Thanks already.....
Robin

Your system will be backwards compatible (ie i386 binaries should work on an i686) but there are various optimisations that might improve the speed if you use the i686 instead.
