Getting started guide...???

Hello everyone, I have been using Linux remotely (SSH) for about a year now, but I have never had the oppurtunity to actually set a Linux box up before.

So I finally got around to stickin' a box inside my house. I am just having a few problems with some features, so I was wondering...

Has anyone created a getting started guide? A step-by-step guide to the *proper* way to set things up? I am specifically looking for a server related guide... Apache, FTP, SSH, POP3, MySQL, PHP...

The Linux Documentation Project (http://www.tldp.org) should be more then enough to help you get started.

Be sure to read the HOWTOs.

An excellent starting point is usually your distro's website/documentation. RedHat's is very good.
