Hi all,

As the subject suggests, I am very new to the linux world, yet very interested. I am currently running Mac OS 10.2 and I want to enter into the linux world. I have very very limited knowledge, mostly the few terminal commands I have learned in 10.x, and what I have picked up from surfing around sites such as this one about linux the past week or two. I am toying around with the idea of installing YDL 2.3 on my iMac, along with 10.2. Does anyone have any thoughts? Suggestions? Is YDL a good distrobution for a someone as ignorant to Linux as myself? Thanks for all your input....

I've found 2.3 of YDL to be very nice. Depending on how you have your iMac's hard disk set up right now, you may have to do a full backup and repartition your drive. Then you'll be able to install Linux with MacOS X (or OS 9...).

Please let us know how it goes :) .

Welp I just finished the installation and I am sending this from Konqueror in YDL :) I must say I am rather impressed so far with my beautiful new OS. On problem though, the sound appears to be messed up. I got an error on startup about the soundserver and a driver not being presant i think? And now the speakers are crackling and making some strange noises... I'm not quite sure what to do now. If anyone can offer suggestions I'd be grateful :)

You may want to check the sound mixer app that comes with KDE, and make some adjustments. I didn't have that problem with the iBook, but I'll be installing YDL on my iMac within the next week, or so.
