I ordered the 3 Mandrake 9 CD's. I am on a network (W2K) and am running WXP Pro.
1. Do I have to do preparation, or can I just boot from the CD and let it install itself. And do I have to install all 3 CD's?
2. I want to dual boot WXP and Mandrake. Any advice or links to help?
3. Can Mandrake connect to our school network? Is there some type of log on?
Thanks.

No, you'll have to enter some things in depending on how you wish Linux to be installed.
You will also have to make sure you have some free hard disk space before installing.
You don't have to install everything on the three CD's, but you can.

You would have to let us know what type of network they are using!

I just installed Mandrake along with my XP Pro, I am
new to this but it was pretty basic stuff, installation went smooth and I was up and running in no time. The only part not famaliar to Windows users is probably the partitioning format, ext3.

So I do have to partition the disk? Set aside 4-6 gigs?
Thanks.

yes, pretty much.
be careful when you install though Mandrake offers [b]alot[/] of software and you can easily fill up 2+ gigs with stuff you don't need.
6 gigs is a good start for mandrake. the mandrake partition tool in the install is one of the nicest around but check the mandrake site first to make sure it will play nice with XP
