In the past week, having just got hold of a RedHat installation I've installed it on an old machine I got from work.
The only problem I've had - from the start is problems with the mouse.
So long as I use a bog-standard 2 button PS/2 mouse I can enter graphical mode - but the cursor just sits there in the middle of the screen and will not respond to the mouse movements.
Any ideas as to what I can do to rectify the solution.
I've spent the past 4 days searching for mouse problems - and there are a lot of them out there, but I've not come across a completed thread that rectifies the problem I'm having

(For extra info - if I use a Logitech Wheel mouse, it is not picked up at all and I cannot enter graphical mode)

This is my first post - so be gentle with me
Thanks
Adrian

Post a copy of your /etc/XF86Config file for us to look at.

Check to see if it is using the correct device.

I want to apologise for not replying sooner and I will eventually get the information that you say will be helpful.

I was very keen to get the PS/2 mouse to work, however after all my work I resigned to giving a serial mouse a go - and the bugger worked!!

I am keen to try and get to the bottom of the PS/2 problem - if just to help my understanding.

One irritation is that my linux machine is in the loft, completely standalone and the only way I can see getting the information is to write it down, then type it in here ... and having been frustrated for a week+ ... I can't get myself motivated to do it now ... but I will ...

Thanks

Just post the InputDevice Section from /etc/X11/XF86Config (-4).
