I've made several attempts at making linux my main OS, none of which worked, for one reason or another. I'm at it again, and I've run into a few problems.
I'm running SuSE 8.0 and I'm having trouble with my Hecules Gametheater XP. I get no sound whatsoever. On startup, I get the following console messages:
date host insmod: insmod: a module named sg already exists
date host insmod:insmod char-major-21 failed
date host insmod: insmod a module named st already exists
date host insmod: insmod: insmod char-major-9 failed
date host insmod: kernel: ALSA ../../alsa-kernel/pci/cs46xx/cs46xx_lib.c:2333: hack for Hercules Game Theatre XP enabled
date host: modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module char-major-10-134
where date is the date and host is my computer host name. I'm running with pretty default installation options.
My second problem is this: i have an ntfs drive on a promise ultra66. I don't see that drive listed anywhere (the only place i could find a drive listing was in the KDE control center). I was able to successfully mount my other ntfs drive which is NOT on the promise. Any ideas?
Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance for any help you can give me...
