I would like to build a linux box. The NHFs don't seem to address what hardware is best suited for Linux.

Besides the AMD Duron 850 I have lying around I have a clean slate.

Any suggestions or resources I can look at for a list of the most compatible hardware.

Can I just build a new box that would work for Windows and make it work on linux?

Thanks,

Decide on the distro you wish to start with and read the Linux Hardware Compatability List which can be found on google and more than likely the distro will have a supported hardware page on their website.

Also, the Hardware NHF here maybe able to point you in the right direction:

Besides the distros HCL which my buddy Cheeky suggested, try searching Google for Linux ( www.google.com/linux ) for whatever hardware components you are considering to see if others have had problems with it.
