Hi,

I have my box hooked up to my television using an ATI Radeon 64 MB DDR VIVO Card.

But I am having problems with XFree86-4.2.1. When I configure XF86Config-4 to use "radeon" as my driver, I am unable to switch to a console or display any video out using a vesa driver for mplayer or other software. When attempting to switch to a console by CTRL-ALT-F3, my monitor displays "sync out of range,:

However, when I configure XF86Config-4 to use the "vesa" driver, I am able to console-switch and display the console output to the television. I can then run mplayer -vo vesa foo.avi on the television screen. But the "vesa" driver doesn't look clean on my desktop and doesn't refresh fast enough.

How can I use XFree86 and the "radeon" driver to switch to a console? Thanks.
