When I try to install the soundblaster drivers I get this error. How can I solve this. When I try to install them I am loged in as root. It looks like to me it's saying that I am using it at the time of the install but I am not using the sound card at the time. And I do have the kernel source installed.

mkdir -p //lib/modules/2.4.19-16mdk/kernel/drivers/sound/emu10k1
install -c -m 664 emu10k1.o //lib/modules/2.4.19-16mdk/kernel/drivers/sound/emu10k1
install -c -m 664 ac97_codec.o //lib/modules/2.4.19-16mdk/kernel/drivers/sound
/sbin/depmod -a 2.4.19-16mdk
/sbin/modprobe -r emu10k1.o ac97_codec.o
ac97_codec.o: Device or resource busy

I would have thought that the SBLive module would be available in mandrake without having to install it. Did you try just modprobe emu10k1 before all of the above commands.?

Is alsa running? If alsa runs, I get the same error.

I will have to try both of those things when I get home from work. Thanks for responding

If you are in a Gnome or KDE session the audio modules are often busy and cannot be disturbed due to alsa, oss, etc. To make sure these are not busy get out of X all together. This may help.

Right now I am running the oss module so how and where can I set up at least 4.1 sound at? I also run my reciver in my digital port.
