Sound problem with Red Hat 8.0

I have MSI KT-3 with onboard sound...running Red Hat 8.0
The OS would recognize the interface when I try to do a soundconfig under KDE, but would not MAKE any sound when I push the test button.

Any thing I should do? ...dunno where to start.

Are all the required sound modules loaded?

lsmod (list loaded modules)

Have you tried the sound mixer (Kmix)? Adjust the volumes and ensure nothing is muted.

There are some 'licensing issues' in RH8, regarding .mp3's. If you wannna do a quick test for sound, just find a .wav file and try to play it with XMMS or something.

locate *.wav - will find all of the wav files
