set up: winxp/suse8.0 -> suse8.0 -> cable Modem
in an effort to block winxp from communicating back with microsoft i am using iptables to drop all packets in FORWARD to any ip address in 207.46.X.X network. am i on the right track here? also, is there any other known network addresses ms uses? thanks....

Can't you just block all ports exept of like 80, 21 and those you need?

could, but is it going to share info through port 80 which i can't shut down?

Have you tried using the freeware utility "XP-Antispy"? It will disable a lot of the "XP Phone Home" services and such in XP.
