Hello all... This is my first post, though I have learned so much already from the NHF's and the forums.

I have a laptop with wireless ethernet all set up and working for the network at my school. I am interested, though, in having Slackware boot without all of the network-oriented services when I am not in my office.

My current thinking is to compile two separate kernel images, one with networking built in and one without. Is that the best way to proceed? Or, perhaps should I compile one kernel and have a script run appropriate networking modules at startup?

Which is better/easier, considering that I use LILO (dual-booting with win98se for my wife...).

Thanks!
BB

By the way, here are things currently running. This is the stock Slackware 8.1 install. The only thing I added to load as a module is apm support. What can I safely omit when I'm not connected?

sendmail (listed twice, once as owner root, once as owner smmsp ???)
apmd (why two apm daemons? redundant? cooperative?)

Thank you, Thank you!
