Hello.
Recently downloaded Mandrake 9, everything gets installed fine, then I try to secure everything and life gets complicated.
I started by following the Armoring Linux NHF. I managed to figure out that the file they mention, inetd.conf isn't in this particular distribution, and uses xinetd.conf instead. I noticed that xinetd.conf doesn't have much in it, none of the stuff the NHF was talking about as far as I can tell. I found an xinetd.d directory, but I don't know what I'm supposed to do with that.
I did manage to use chkconfig to turn off most unnecessary services (I hope)
Then I tried working with Bastille... I read that it was included with Mandrake, but apparently it isn't, so I downloaded it, got that installed, then tried to install the perl-Tk deal that is required, but got a message about it being dependant on libpt.so.1 or some such.
Anyway, I'm just trying to get a reasonably secure setup so I can share Intarweb access with my other two computers. Can anyone help me out here? Or, more accurately, Will anyone help me out here? :D
Thanks,
Threepwood
