I'm having some trouble reconfiguring the way my machine boots into linux--and it seems I'm not alone... based on some similar posts.
I want to autologin with KDE, but end-up in Gnome despite having changed the settings.
I originally installed 'Gnome' and at first glance it seemed to be rather trivial to make the switch:
-----
$ mcc
-> 'Boot' -> 'Boot config'
select -> 'Launch the graphical environment when your system starts'
select -> 'Yes, I want to autologin with this (user, desktop)'
change -> desktop from 'Gnome' to 'KDE'
'OK'
'File' - 'Exit' (leave mcc)
-----
On reboot I end-up in Gnome. When I go back into 'mcc' and check the settings I'm dumb-founded to find that they are as I want them to be; mcc saves the setting 'KDE' but doesn't seem to much controling in this case. :confused:
I also had this problem in Mandrake 8.2, where I originally had installed 'KDE' (as the default autologin) and tried switching (the default) to 'Gnome.' Part of the reason I went to MDK 9.0 is the hope the problem would go away...
Interestingly, the autologin enable/disable in mcc (for MDK 9.0) I've found works just fine. I've currently disabled the autologin... but I want to be lazy and not type anything when I boot into linux. :)
Any help would be appreciated...
Thanks.
