Hi,

I must be doing somthing wrong cause I can't find my newly installed themes. I went to freshmeat.net to look for some themes for gnome..(am I right in thinking that bluecurve is a theme for gnome?)

anyway I download, un-compress/tar, open the theme manager, select install new theme find the only file that isn't a *.png select it, some stuff flash by, and nothing new happens.

I think I'm missing a simple step here but i can't think of it

Thanks

I had the same problem. After looking around and playing with it for a while I found that I can only install GTK 2.X themes. GTK 1.x wouldnt work no matter what I did. I am a first time linux user (just installed it last night) and have no idea why I couldnt install the older themes. I was able to use some pictures from the old 1.X file for the backround.

Although I am a n00b, I would advise you as I think most would to use fluxbox themes instead. Trust me , Ive tried.

yeah..see i've tried all the themes in freshmeat for metacity and they all crash during installation.
what's wrong?
is gnome2 using different version of metacity of those in freshmeat?
