i installed MDK 9.0 with KDE 3 on it. When i installed i created a default user on the system apart from the root account and i guess I said YES to autologin that user into the system on bootup BY MISTAKE .

I am not able to change that option now. How do i change it ??

I tried to change it by DISABLING the autologin feature from Control-Center->System->Login Manager but no use, it still logs on the normal user everytiem i reboot hte machine

TIA

Configuration -> KDE -> System -> Login Manager.

Click on the tab marked Convenience.

Deselect Enable auto login.

Duh. Sorry I'm feeling like an absolute ditz. You already said you did that.

Did you restart X after you did this? CTRL+BACKSPACE?

in a terminal window (call up konsole or xterm) type su. It will ask you for your password. Give it. Type in linuxconf. In login, or boot somewhere should be a default runlevel setting. Change this to runlevel 3, or whatever says textmode. Exit, then restart. You should be in the terminal now. Now if you want to change your default wm, you can just echo "exec myfavoritewm" >> ~/.xinitrc Then just startx
