Alright... this is the last time I'm posting this before I give up!! I have a clean install of Mandrake 8.2 (nothing has been added...NOTHING!!!). I've tried installing Enlightenment, but got an error that I needed IMLIB-1.9.8 in order to run it. Ok.. no problem, went and grabbed Imlib. I ran ./configure ... no error codes. then when I tried to 'make' the file I got the following errors:

[root@qudorms imlib-1.9.8]# make make all-recursive make[1]: Entering directory `/home/carrja/imlib-1.9.8' Making all in Imlib make[2]: Entering directory `/home/carrja/imlib-1.9.8/Imlib' make[2]: *** No rule to make target `all'. Stop. make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/carrja/imlib-1.9.8/Imlib' make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/carrja/imlib-1.9.8' make: *** [all-recursive-am] Error 2

Please help....please.... :(

If you are compiling it you need the imlib-dev files.

That is from when I tried to make for IMLIB!!! perhaps here is some more light on the subject, I looked back through the configure process and got this...

checking for GTK - version >= 1.1.9... no
*** The gtk-config script installed by GTK could not be found
*** If GTK was installed in PREFIX, make sure PREFIX/bin is in
*** your path, or set the GTK_CONFIG environment variable to the
*** full path to gtk-config.
configure: warning: *** gdk_imlib will not be built ***
no

Perhaps that's a problem!? ARRGGHHH... please help... and please don't repeat what I have already stated, read carefully.

There is a directory named /etc/gtk/ . What the heck is the name of the said gtk config file!? (And no.. this is not a retarded question.. there is nothing that resembles a config file in this dir, just a bunch of gtkrc.* files!)

C'mon guys!! It's impossible for me to be the first person EVER to try and install Enlightenment on a fully installed Mandrake-8.2 system!!!

isn't there an rpm you can use for imlib?

I might just go get it and perhaps come back to this later. When I first started using linux, I went with rpms, but recently I've slanted toward compiling the sources myself as the programs seem to run faster.

rpmfind.net is being **** slow. Anyone else know where I could find a rpm for imlib for Mandrake 8.2? after 10 minutes, rpmfind.net gives me no response when I try to download.

Aright... got an rpm and installed it. Guess what? Enlightenment still gives me the error that it needs imlib-1.9.8! I even rebooted, still no results. ARRGGHHH!!!

Alright.. I've installed the rpms for alot of files that enlightenment needed, then grabbed the most recent up to date rpm for IMLIB... still can't detect it, and heck, I can't even find it! HELP ME!!

Wow.... STILL no luck with f*cking imlib!! After all f*cking day!! And obviously no one is interested in helping, as if I am the first person to ever even consider trying to install Enlightment on top of Mandrake Linux 8.2! COME ON!!! SOMEONE... SOMEONE must've installed it on thier mandrake linux! IMLIB is poorly maintained obviously, the rpm I got DID NOT install a file named imlib-config, which is what F*CKING Enlightenment keeps on screaming for everytime I try to ./configure!!

You might have to concede defeat temporarily on this. If it's not working and you can't make it work, give it up for a while and do something else.

And obviously no one is interested in helping, as if I am the first person to ever even consider trying to install Enlightment on top of Mandrake Linux 8.2!

We don't get paid to do this. You can't expect immediate responses just because you want them. Show some patience (that means waiting more than 40 minutes) and somebody might come up with an answer.

along with all it's needed deps ?

it doesn't on 8.2. But me thinks I just may grab Mandrake 9.0.

Since you are looking to lean off of RPMs (and they do suck), why not try a distro that isn't so reliant on them? Gentoo, slack, and debian come to mind...
