During Debian 3 install I selected XWindows thinking this is what I would need to run fluxbox. My box then booted into KDE.

How do I uninstall KDE and all "K" components (my system resources are low -32mb RAM and P166MMX) and install fluxbox?

In KDE, I downloaded fluxbox-0.1.12.tar.gz. I then clicked the file and I told the archive software to open it. It did. I made a "fluxbox" dir and told the archiver to extract there. I then switched to the Super User Terminal to run

tar -xzvf fluxbox-0.1.12.tar.gz

This appeared to work. When I then tried to cd to "fluxbox-0.1.12" I get an error saying that it is not a directory even though it appears to be.

I looked for fluxbox in the /usr/local/bin and there is only "." and ".." I was logged in as "root."

Any suggestions? Any help is greatly appreciated.
