I have a question about setting up my modem. I have the new Corel Linux and a PCI true PCI modem (it's not a winmodem). I took the modem out and changed the jumpers on it so that is isn't plug 'n play. In kppp it finds the modem with no problems. When I hit connect, the modem "clicks" like it does when it is going to dial, then "clicks" again shutting the modem off. Any ideas?
Thank you,
Zaephen.

If it clicks you at least know that the modem is responding and the device is setup correctly. Does Kppp return an error message? If so could you post it?

Okay, I have the modem working, well, I did. Now it seems my sound card may be causing problems with the modem. I have a Sound Blaster AWE 64 PnP and a Amflem 56k Hypermodem or something like that (is also says Rockwell on it). Anyway the modem is a true modem not a winmodem be cause I can get it to work in DOS and stuff by removing the "jumpers". Anyway, when I install Corel Linux and setup my modem it works just like it does in PnP mode with windows but when I run "sndconfig" which sets my sound card up, the modem no longer works. It gives me the "modem is busy error" which I think means it can't see the modem. So I can then take the modem out and set my dip switches and remove the "jumpers" and then that is when it clicks twice real quick. Any ideas?
Thanks.

>Rockwell
Hi, perhaps you can ask the vendor
or try text terminal program
MINICOM or DIP.
Perhaps your modem need special
initialization command.
IIRC Rockwell said that their
modems does not support LINUX.
Is the DOS your mentioned really
an old MS-DOS or DOS under W95/98?
