When you say it doesn't work, what exactly is happening? Are you getting an error message? Try starting Opera from a console so that you can get a an error message.

I'd suggest installing the 'static' version rather than the 'shared' so that you don't run into QT dependency problems.

Hi,

I just installed opera tody myself, this is what I had to do

1. download the static version of oprea for an rpm distro like mandrake 9.0

2. I then installed the oprea rpm file by doubble clicking it & then rpmdrake did the install for me

3. I then added an icon to my netwoking group & www sub menu ( same place all others browsers are installed , I did this by using menu drake ( in the md control center under system) I then selcted to add opera to the system menu

4. while in menu drake I gave the browser a tiltle of opera & then I add was this /usr/lib/opera/6.03-2 the command (0020813.1/opera) with no () you must enter that command becuse it is the command that starts oprea also uncheck open a terminal window

5. then you will want to click on the icon below the command box & change the defult icon, you will want to look for the oprea icon called oprea xpm it is under the kde path

6. make sure to save the changes to update the menu & then you should be able to run opera good luck

PS you can also tell if oprea is installed & running by opening a terminal window & typing opera this should launch the browser

hope this helps post back if you have more questions :)
