Radeon 64MB DDR Vivo video capture?

I am trying to get video capture to work with my Radeon. I have downloaded and installed all the gatos drivers that the gatos projects claims nessasary (ati.2 drm-kernel and km) All have compiled and installed properly yet xawtv and zapping both give me an error stating that capture is not supported by the module. I tried recompiling both programs
Video display via composite video in does work. DRI appears to be working (glxgears gives me 830fps) I receive no error messages in X's log.

Has anyone ever resolved these problems. If so how? I searched google about a thousand times but no one has a good "how to".

Sorry if this has been covered a thousand times but I couldn't find anything even in the forums here.

Which module is it complaining about?

Actually this is a subject that is rarely posted here at LNO, so I doubt you will find many previous threads on video capture.

I'm not sure about what module it is complaining xawtv gives me the wonderful error "grabbing: not supported"
zapping gives me a more complete output:

but I think the files acctually listed here are zapping local files, not kernel modules.

The gatos project site states that the kernel module "km" is the one required for video capture. Maybe I'll try compiling it again and reinstalling it. I've been troubleshooting this problem so long I don't even know what I have and have not tried lately.
