At my college to get on the net, you have to go through a verification process. But, you also have to pay. There is a way around this by using a DNS server. I have WinXP and Red Hat 7.2 on my computer. Using the DNS method, I can access the net through XP, but run into trouble on Linux. I setup what I think the settings are suppose to be, but get a message saying host not found when typing in a website. I try to ping the DNS server and it says network not found. Occasionally, I can get online, but then the screen req verification comes up, which is no good also. Since I can access the net with no problem in XP using DNS, getting on through Linux should be possible, right? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
