Dear all,
I've successfully configured the mail server on 6.2 using sendmail and changing 3 files on the Primary DNS & Secondary DNS:
1. /etc/inetd.conf
2. /etc/hosts.allow
3. /etc/hosts.deny
I did an experiment as below:
1. Secondary DNS sent mail (using sendmail) to
Primary DNS
2. In the mail server, Under /var/spool/mqueue
there are the mail queued. I can view the
messages sent.
3. Also, when I do tail -f /var/log/maillog in the
mail server and the Secondary DNS(sender) shows
the transmission detail but not the Primary DNS
(receiver).
My questions are:-
1. how should the receiver machine (Primary DNS)
retrieve the mail from the mail server ? I used
"mail" command but to no avail.
2. Is there any configuration that I need to set
in the mail server to forward the mails sent ?
3. What should the output look like when the mail
is retrieved ? The address shows the original
sender's address or masquerades as the mail
server's address?
Looking forward for advises.
Thank you in advance.
Best regards,
Jane
