Just installed mandrake and am having problems connecting to the internet with dialup. The modem is detected and it dials the ISP and handshakes but after that point nothing happens and it trys to reconnect again. I checked the logs and it verifies it connecting but then it gives me an error:

-connection terminated
-receive serial link is not 8-bit clean.
-problem: all had bit 7 set to 0.

I think it might be a driver problem being as the modem is ISA. If anyone could help it would be greatly apreciated.

I got quite a few hits with a Google for Linux search for 'receive serial link is not 8-bit clean' (http://www.google.com/linux?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=receive+serial+link+is+not+8-bit+clean&btnG=Google+Search).

See if any of them pertain to your particular problem.
