Display problems....

Ive decided to re-install Mandrake 8.2 on my system... So far after trying a few times I get to the same spot each time.

When its installing properly, I will get all the way to the monitor configurations. That is the problem.

I tried the specified resolution, and several others... I get results like: blank screens, some with snow/buzzing patterns, multi-colored vertical lines, etc.. then my system freezes.....

I tried everything that I could have think of. My monitor is Unknown, I do not have
any information/specs for it.

Im using onboard video S3 Trio64V+ PCI(765)
800x600 screen resolution

Is there anyway I can find out the specifications for my Unknown monitor??

Maybe the manufacturer information is printed on the case of the monitor somewhere? (like on a sticker on the back or something). Serial numbers or whatever... google for those and see if you can track down a manufacturer.
