I'm wanting to set up a dual boot machine (XP & Mandrake 8.2). However, I'm having some problems resizing my NTFS partition.

I'm using Partition Magic and keep getting 983 errors. This apparently has something to do with sector/file errors on the disc. I've run checkdsk and scandisk with some error fixes, but I continue to be unable to resize the NTFS partition and thus cannot install Linux.

Anybody out there with some partitioning suggestions that could get me through this? Powerquest support is non-existent on the weekends.

Thanks for any help you can provide...

Jeff

In your other post someone mentioned that their XP had an 11G partition for Admin tools and they just deleted that partition and used the space to install linux. Does your XP have that Admin tool partition?

There is always fips. I used it on my WinMe 30G drive, but I don't know if it will work on ntfs?

Other than that I've never used partition magic or XP so I'm not much help.
