should the "formatting filesystem" bit in RH7.3 install act like this?

red hat linux 7.3

it gets to the bit where it says "formatting filesystem" it goes to 10% but doesn't move past there?

The hard drive LED is on as if it's doing something but it doesn't make any progress. :mad: i waited like 23mins but still 10%

someone said that it just does that, it sits on 10% and then when it's done jumps to the end but how long should it take becuase i have a p4 2.0, 512ram surely it shouldn't take this long?

Doesn't sound right to me.

Could you please tell us a little more about your system? Other partitions, operating systems etc.?

Are you creating and formatting new partitions during the installation or reformatting existing partitions?

Primary or Logical partitons and what sizes are you creating/formatting?

I have 80GB hard drive. i want to install linux but keep xp on as well for now.

It would seem the partitions have been created though the formatting is most likely not complete.

I would think the only thing you can do is try again and this time give it a bit longer.
