I want to install linux (RH7.2) on a laptop with an Addonics pcmcia cd drive. I boot from the floppy and it asks me for a driver disk for the cd. I go to addonics.com and they say I don't need a driver disk, because RH emulates plug&play. ??!!
Thanks,
Jonathan.

Are you using the pcmcia.img floppy to install? There is an additional driver image disk but I thought it was just for network drivers. Check the text file in the image directory and see if there is any info on pcmcia installation.

I had a worse problem, my laptop has a PCMCIA SCSI CD-ROM and I was not able to get that working...gave in and used the Debian network install disks and got it going that way with little problems...
Looking at the 7.2 CD (I just happened to have one on me :))
here's the readme in the Image folder...
The following boot images images available:
boot.img - boot image for CD and hard drive based install
bootnet.img - boot image for network based install
pcmcia.img - boot image for installing on laptops
The following driver disks are available:
drvblock.img - Supplemental Block Device Drivers
drvnet.img - Supplemental Network Drivers
oldcdrom.img - Supplemental CDROM controllers
pcmciadd.img - PCMCIA Driver Diskette
So you might want to make copies of the pcmcia.img to boot from and also pcmciadd.img so you can get the CD-ROM working...

Thanks! I got past it and am up and running.
I think this was just another case of (I hate to admit it) RTFM !!
