I've searched these forums and can't seem to find a solution to this problem.

Whenever I try to run UT2k3 I get the following responses...

[paul@Tower System]$ ./UnrealTournament cp: /home/paul/.utconf: omitting directory Can't find file for package 'GlideDrv' Aborted

download the UT2003 Demo, not UT 2000 Demo :p

You shouldn't even think about using GLide in Linux, it's not supported very well and was devloped only for Voodoo cards...get an NVidia, developers love those things :D

And yes, to run ut2003 it does help to run the right command :p

$ ut2003_demo

I did download the correct demo.

I go into the system dir and type ./UnrealTournament and I get that error.

I have a geforce2mx, shouldn't UT run out of the box?

With my installation of UT2k3, there is no such thing as a file called UnrealTournament in the System directory. There's a ut2003-bin, and running that works just fine. But no UnrealTournament.

There's also no such thing as a /home/<username>/.utconf/ directory that it uses. UT2k3 uses /home/<username>/.ut2003/ for all its stuff. Where'd you download this from? www.linuxgames.com has some mirrors listed still; I got mine from the first mirror they had (ftp.stenstad.net).

With a GF card, UT2k3 will run, provided you're using the nVidia drivers. This is something your distro knows nothing about, though, so if you haven't set them up, you will need to.

You have the UT v348 Glide only demo for Linux. UT2003's binary is called ut2003-bin and is executed with a script called ut2003_demo found in the main ut2003 directory.

Just to recap, you don't have the UT2003 Demo and Glide is dead!

Yeah, my mistake. :)

Anyway, how do I execute this bin file that I downloaded?

# sh ./UT2003-Demo-Linux.sh.bin

do it as root...it makes it easier
