I'm running slackware 8.1, I downloaded a java based p2p program (phex) and I'm having trouble getting it to run. I tried a couple of commands to get java going but I don't think I have it. I'm downloading 1.4 SE from sun. And for my question; should I have java installed already? I figured it would be a pretty standard package. Also, is phex a good p2p program? Are there any others worth looking at. Thanks

Ok well I got java installed ok but I'm not sure where to put the export commands, but I can type them in a terminal manually and it will work. Another problem I'm having is when I run phex it's all screwed up. Sometimes I'll run my mouse over something and it will pop up like a menu but that's it.

Put the export commands in your /etc/profile or if you created one, your ~/.bash_profile
