Hey guys, anyone able to tell me how to change the color depth in a xpm picture from 24 bits to 8 bits using GIMP. I want to make a custom background when grub boots but it comes out really bad when it is 24 bit.
[edit]
Yes I have read the help files but it doesn't seem to mention it.

Gimp Menu
Image>Mode>Indexed
It can also be done in Kpaint

I tried that but when I check the properties it still says 24 bit. I might try kpaint and see what it can do.

You can use XView if your changing an "existing" image.
