Counterstrike, Where do I start?

I want to make my laptop which is running Redhat 7.3 run as a counterstrike server for my Lan.
My laptop is 700Mhz Celron (coppermine) 192mb of ram.
I was wondering where to start with all this. I have never run any counterstrike server.

I'm pretty sure the place you'd want to check is http://server.counter-strike.net/ -- at least, it's something close to that. They've got tutorials for the Linux and Windows dedicated servers, for how to set them up. AdminMod might be a good idea, then again, maybe not, it kinda depends on who your admins will be.

For a LAN party, you shouldn't need much more then the basics...AdminMod does have some cool addons though :)

The like to counter-server is correct and I've used their Linux guide to get a CS server going last year...it's very good.

Oh, I wasn't thinking LAN party, I was thinking like we have in the dorms, one fairly large LAN. Yeah, you won't need anything like AdminMod if it's not going to be running all the time.

I'm thinking more of a small household lan. Just for fun. Small groups of people.
I'm the admin of course. Why share power. I want to be the only god! Beware the power of the chicken!

It's fun giving a few people some minor admin rights...like slap, gravity settings (these combined are fun. lower grav, slap 'em so they go flying way high then norm grav :D) and teleport is evil fun ;)

Then when you have 3 out of 10 with this power and everyone is a bit slap happy (no pun intended ;)) it is good for about 30-60 minutes of madness :cool:

Something else that's funny is if you can get everyone to agree, go knives only, with gravity set to like 100 (the normal is 800) or so. 50 works OK too.

You get a cluster of people in the middle of the map, all trying to knife each other, while flying through the air. It's pretty hilarious to watch.

Then, and this one's just plain mean ;) , you set the gravity really low and wait for everyone to be flying, then set it back to like 10000000 or so. They all drop instantly to the ground, and die. People running down inclines die, too, because of the way the game simulates that. If you aren't moving, and don't try, you'll be OK. But people get mad after like the first time you try that one... :D

hmm I know you can ban certian weapons like awp because I've seen it done. I think it would be intresting to ban random weapons to tick people off. That and I like bury but if people aren't familar with it they won't know to look for the moron who can not move!
