Is there anyway I can run Diablo2 on my Mandrake linux box?

Or should I just go find a new game to play? lol.

Thanks a lot, I was wondering about that. I'm just about ready to convert a computer to linux (whenever my cd's arrive); and that was a major issue. I'm a big gamer, but I wanted a new OS because I just felt there should be much more to computers then just the windows interface.

Hopefully in a year, I'll have some knowledge on programming (tryin to teach myself), and I will be ready to convert all my PC's to linux and try to teach my mom how to use it.

check out appdb.codeweavers.com for a big list of games/progs that show how well they work on linux.

Diablo II works great through winex, I dont know about regular wine though. I play it all of the time.

Transgaming Winex (http://www.transgaming.com)

As far as RTCW, why would you run it through wine, when there are linux native binaries?

If you're a big gamer, I'd suggest dual booting rather than a complete conversion. Many games still don't run under WineX, and though they are improving it every release, your best bet is to leave a Windows partition for playing games.

Just my opinion. If you'd like to read my article on my test of 8 Windows games under WineX 2.1.1, you can check it out here:

This biggest problem for now with games that work under WineX is that many of them run in 16 bit color mode at 640x480 resolution under X, which can be a little grainy for games like Diablo 2. Again, just my opinion, yada yada yada </DennisMiller>

Diablo II works fine in 800x600, and I run full screen. The only problem is using direct3D from the D2Vidtest.exe. It doesnt work well, so It has to be run in directdraw mode, but I can't tell a difference between the two. They both look great.
