This is great news and just another reason to ditch those windows partitions.

Linux is now up and running pretty well. I've been told that we should be able to release the Linux client and server executables around the same time as the windows version ships. Official tech support isn't provided for the Linux versions. Currently Linux will only work well with Nvidia cards - apparently ATI's OpenGL Linux and Mac drivers don't support texture compression. Hopefully this is something they will soon fix. Mac development is just underway so it will still be a little while before it's done.

So will this be just like Q3A, buy the windows version of the game then "patch it" with the linux files?

Does it really matter if it's a Loki installer or if they have Linux/Win only CDs? besides the fact that buying a Windows CD means that Win gets the credit...but if it's a download wouldn't the number of times it's downloaded count?

So if it's a download, download it...even if you don't have it yet :)

And download it from diferent locations so it looks like a bunch of people are getting it :D

YEAH!!! UT2003 for Linux!!

and my Q3A disk is Linux only..no Win binaries at all...:p

I would guess it will be a download since they are saying there will be no official support for linux. Selling a cd with a linux install would kinda force them to support it as it was purchased.

My guess it you download a patch for the Windows CD. That's how it worked in Unreal Tournament.

At least they are making the effort :)

I'll buy it when the linux binaries are avialable. Still waiting to buy Neverwinter until the linux binaries are avialable. Fall of 2002, supposedly. So December at the latest?

WOOHOO!!!

*happy dance*

I'm already getting Rune and Unreal from Tuxgames sometime soon here, and have UT (though all those ports were done by Loki, not Epic)...

I think Epic is going to join Id on my list of "really good places to get stuff from..." :D

And I wouldn't *not* work there after college here... (hehe, yeah right, I wish! ;) )
