Hello All,
I wanted to know if you could set up Linux boxes to authenticate into a Windows Active Directory Domain. File sharing and printing is NOT needed, I just wanted to see if I could lock down the Linux boxes so that they would have to authenticate like Windows XP and 2000 to the domain for users to use the machines. I am asking so that we could keep one database of users for the two platforms.
Thanks in advance!!!

Two thing to read, found them on my drive, should be at the samba site if you haven't install it yet:

/usr/share/doc/samba-2.2.5/docs/htmldocs/DOMAIN_MEMBER.html

/usr/share/doc/samba-2.2.5/docs/htmldocs/winbind.html

I have not tried to pull this off, no need, no win2k domain to play with.

Once the box is a member of the domain, use winbind as a relacement for login on the local box.

For kicks I set this up with an NT4 domain, using windbind for login, like in the howto. Works great....
