I've recently started using linux and have only just got x working (thanks to you guys). When I installed linux I had both KDE and Gnome installed.

I understand that these both do the same job and as such which would it be best to keep (space is a little tight)? I'm basically looking for the best office setup and maybe a decent graphics package.

Also, how would I go about uninstalling the one I might not want??

Thanks!

Have you tried both and not been able to decide which interface you prefer yet as hey both can run each others programs and programs such as OpenOffice run in any desktop environment or window manager. I use fluxbox and can use all programs by just having the libraries for which ever desktop environment I like. I don't have the KDE libs installed as I prefer GNOME, but I could do if I wanted.

With regards to uninstalling, it really depends on what distro you use and what their package management system is like? eg. Mandrake has Software manager to handle it's rpms but you could just use rpm -e packagename to uninstall too :)

That's the beauty of Linux. It's in the eye of the beholder. You have to see which you like better. I personally prefer Gnome. Plus, I can access all the KDE menus right from Gnome, so there's no need to switch.

I have never tried FluxBox as my first Linux Distro is RH 7.3

I hear it's pretty cool though.
