How do I get quake to recognize my joystick? I'm using RH 7.2. Quake3 runs perfectly, except it doesn't detect my joystick.

provided your joystick is actually working, in_joystick "1" will enable it. restart quake3 and it should work

If that doesn't work, then a few questions are in order:
1) What kind of joystick is it? Along with this, which interface does it use (gameport, or USB, or gameport+serial, something else)? If it uses a gameport, is your gameport on a sound card (this includes onboard sound)? If so, what kind of sound card is it?
2) What's the output of lsmod, and what's in the /etc/modules.conf file?
I assume your joystick works in another OS?
