Wallex 08-27-2002, 09:27 PM Why do you need icons there anyway? I am quite used to the lack of them. All I need is in the menu, just right click anywhere outside of the window and you get all the programs you need. And if you need quick access to something, keybind it. Light window managers don't really use icons, or that's what I know. I am managing quite nicely without icons.. why would I want some icon ruining my wallpaper anyway? (Now if I could just make all apps transparent...) Vectorman 08-27-2002, 09:57 PM I CAN get along with out the ICONS but it is a pain to have to go to THREE Menus to get to Nautalis for file browsing or THREE Menus for Galeon for Web Access How do you KEYBIND things. Also Can anyone tell me how to set logon/logoff sounds in Blackbox. I understand that it's aLIGHT MANAGER but I would like some kind of telltale when things happen Thank you Q3_Slack3r 08-27-2002, 10:05 PM www.freshmeat.net and search for rox filer then go to the MAIN site for more info sorry if this is vague but i can't remember exactly.. Timothy L. Miller 08-28-2002, 06:57 AM Or you could install coolicon, or DFM. Any of these (and more) will allow you to create icons on your blackbox/fluxbox desktop. I use coolicon myself. z0mbix 08-28-2002, 07:15 AM ...or run a tiny gnome panel by putting panel & in your ~/.xinitrc but I do find that I don't use it much anymore and may get rid of it soon Wallex 08-28-2002, 08:20 AM Originally posted by Vectorman I CAN get along with out the ICONS but it is a pain to have to go to THREE Menus to get to Nautalis for file browsing or THREE Menus for Galeon for Web Access How do you KEYBIND things. Thank you Well, I personally use keybindings for program I launch (and perhaps close) all the time (like aterm). The man blackbox should tell you about it, but if it's anything like Fluxbox, you just have to edit the keys file in your blackbox directory. I do recommend getting bbconf, it's a program that will help you set up your Blackbox. As for three level deep menu's, you could just reconfigure your menu as your will, I have all the main programs I use in the second menu, and since all of them I only run once, it doesn't costs much to just float that menu and start them one after the other. LiNuts 08-28-2002, 08:24 AM You can use acidlaunch , get it from freshmeat. http://freshmeat.net/projects/acidlaunch/. It looks like this (my desktop using blackbox) bbdesktop (http://home.pacific.net.au/~jsmi/snapshot2.jpg) Cheers LiNuts Vectorman 08-28-2002, 11:25 AM I like the Acid Launch Idea. Especiall if I can add it to my Slit One other Question though. I have a Window open and on the Upper Left hand corner is a _ Icon. I push it and it seems to Minimise the Window but it disapprears from the SLIT. How do I recall the window. at a loss on this one. thank you sharth 08-28-2002, 04:05 PM middle click on the desktop and it will bring up a list of menus, new workspace, remove last, the list of your worksapces, and then icons. under icons is anything that has been minimized. Vectorman 08-28-2002, 05:39 PM Thank you. I'll check out the Icons menu when I get home. justlinux.com
