Hi! I just installed RedHat Linux 7.3 last night. One issue I'm hoping to find out about, is I have a Diamond Viper v770, NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 (according to Windows). It was picked up by the Linux installer, properly (I think), but when I try to run one of the free games in the packages, it moves so slowly its ridiculous.

Would this be something with the video card, or the monitor. I am not sure of the refresh rates, and so left it as generic and with the settings displayed. Could this also be something to do with the slowness of the system.

At this stage, I'm not too worried about this, as I've mainly got Linux to help with my programming courses at Uni, I've jsut started, but in the future, I hope to get more involved in it :)

have you donwloaded the latest drivers from nvidia?

usually there's a 2D-only driver called nv shipping with the distros - this would explain, why in 2D everything is fine and in 3D the acceleration is missing.
