Hello, I tried to find this info in the NHFs and in the help files that came with WindowMaker but could find nothing that addressed this particular problem.

I am still very very new to Linux. I am currently running Red Hat 7.3 with KDE. I've decided that I want to try WindowMaker because I read somewhere that it might be a little faster than KDE or Gnome. I downloaded the tar.gzip file alright, and decompressed it. However when I try to run the ./configure command as described in the installatation guide i get an error. Here is a copy of the output I get:

[root@b3gd10ay2184 WindowMaker-0.80.1]# ./configure --enable-kde

What am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It seems as though you didn't install any developement packages when you installed RedHat, Try checking the red hat cd's for the appropriate packages and install them. Shouldn't be too hard.

Thanks-- I managed to get all of the files I needed. Wasn't a big problem.

I am having a new one, now though. I can't get WindowMaker to start.

I ran switchdesk and changed the default desktop to Windowmaker from KDE. No problem there. However KDE continues to come up when I start the computer.

Any ideas? Thanks BTW for entertaining my linux ignorance. Just trying to learn. :)
