cstrike help

I've downloaded HLDS as a .bin file but i cant get it to extract into the tar.gz format.
i've read a couple posts on how to do it but whenever i try i get the message "error reading meta data, cannot allocate memory".

i did make it executable. Can anyone please help?

It should be a .tar.gz file, I've never seen a HL/CS file as a .bin before...

chmod +x hlds_l_3110_full.bin
sh ./hlds_l_3110_full.bin
?

doh to me, it was a bad file. it fooled me though, i downloaded it like 3 times just to be safe. anyways, thanks for the help.
