Mandrake's pretty good for gaming, though I've gotten higher framerates on SuSE than Mandrake (or Windows for that matter). The Q3 engine really stands out on Linux, as does the Unreal. I'm unsure of others.

linux is linux is linux. Any distro would work fine for gaming. I use debian, which most people wouldn't call a "gaming" distro, but i can play all the games someone on mandrake can.

thank you for the info. so my downloadin is done, and im trying to figure out now how to install to the harddrive. i copied the hddisk.img boot file from the rewrite.exe to a floppy and booted it. now im just trying to get it to read the directory where my files are at. first i extracted the files with isobuster, and found out that it ask for the iso file when trying to install. hope this step works. *sighs*

Good luck on your quest to play games in Linux :)
I use Red Hat and, as mentioned, Linux is Linux. If you want to play some Windows games (Non-Linux-Native) the best tool for that job would be WineX from www.transgaming.com
Wine is a pain for a newbie to setup, but you will learn a lot in the process and when you have Jedi Knight II running flawlessly in Linux...it's all worth it :D

Or you could go the best route and get off your *** and request native ports.

If you never ask, they think you don't exist.

Oh yeah, I'd recommend everyone stop buying Windows games... What's the point of Linux ports if they make all the money off "Linux users" anyhow?
