I have two stand-alone computers. One running windoze 98, and the other linux mandrake 8.2. Can someone point me to some documentation so that I can get my two computers talking to each other. I'm a totall newbie when it comes to networking, and linux, and don't really know much. I figure the best way to learn is to dive right in.

The easiest way to go is to install Samba on the linux machine.

You can get Samba HERE (http://www.samba.org).

Once it is installed you can use Webmin to configure your shares.

You can get Webmin HERE (http://www.webmin.com).

To see your Windoze shares on your Linux box you can use LinNeighborhood.

You can get it HERE (http://www.bnro.de/~schmidjo/).

I've found these apps to be very easy to use, your mileage may vary.....

If you're looking for some documentation on Linux, go to the Linux Documentation Project home page at:

http://www.linuxdoc.org

There's plenty of reading there in the HOWTOs and Guides. It's a good place to start if you don't wan to have to buy books.
