Hi,
I'm confused about the whole Quake 3 Arena for Linux thing. I've found a few sites about just normal quake for Linux, but I want Quake 3. I see you can purchase a boxed Quake 3 CD on Amazon.com from loki or something. What's the difference between this CD and a normal Windows CD?
I've also heard there are free ways to get Quake 3 for Linux (provided you have the Windows CD). I do have a windows version of Quake 3, what's the easiest way possible I can run Quake 3 on Linux.

By the way, I am using RedHat 7.3 with KDE 3.

note: I need to install Quake 3 so I can install the Q3 mod UrbanTerror, my favourite game. Anyone else here play Urban Terror?

Thanks for any help.
Anton

Go look at id's site. If you did around you can find an installer for quake3 linux. then you mount your cdrom and run the installer and it will install everything for you.

id only provides a point release installer. You have to copy baseq3/pak0.pk3 over from the cd yourself

I bought the Loki box for $10CAD... I saw the Windows version on the shelf for $42... Hmm... WHICH ONE WILL I BUY?

If you get the Loki version (recommended, if possible), install it, download the id point release, install that, and then play.

If you have the Windows CD, follow the instructions in the FAQ posted above.
