Long ago in a galaxy far, far away (think 1995) my company got a brand new IBM RS/6000 with a couple of Xstations. These are diskless workstations that run Common Desktop Environment (CDE) from the RS/6000. They connected via coax and generate LOTS of network traffic. I've been asked to try and phase them out by using RH PC's running X (KDE for desktop) to run the X based software on the RS/6000. The questions I have are....
1) My Xstation has a static IP and is known to the RS/6000 as
x_myname:0.0, how would I find the address display on the RH box?
2) Any other pointers on how to go about this?

Thanks!

We run around 12 AIX servers at work and I just use Xnest to get a remote X (CDE) display on my Linux desktop

man Xnest

The Caldera Knowledgebase article on remote X connections (http://support.caldera.com/caldera/solution?11=010710-0032&130=0994797263&14=&2715=&15=&2716=&57=search&58=&2900=ema4paJRwt&25=6&3=xnest) using Xnest.
