I have installed versions 2.2.3 and versions 2.2.5 and have the same exact problem. This is a good one I have numerous client OS's including 98, 2000 and XP. On all client OS's I can see the shares and get files and data from the shares but on the 2000 and XP Proffesional machines if I try to write to the Samba share it will write a 0 byte file to the share. I can then view the properties of the file which is read only and remove the read only status (from the client PC) and then I can write the remainder of the file in full to the Samba share.
This problem never happens with the 98 machine only with the XP and 2000 machine. The XP machine is a clean install, I had some patches from Microsoft installed on the machine but I removed them (still same problem).
I have verified the SMB.CONF file and tried numerous configurations to no avail. I have disabled all unnessasary processes and the problem still exists.
What has got be truly baffled is why the problem only exist on the XP and 2000 Proffessional machines.
