What's up?

Does anyone know of a simple howto tutorial for apache. I mean step by step and straight forward. I want to be able to use my home pc as a web hosting service for myself and some friends.

If there is one thing I dislike about my linux expierience, it's the fact that I learn everything in bits and pieces. The documentation just progresses to fast for me, as most newbies will agree.

Thanks,

A true 2000 Down / 400 Up Earthlink Cable Conn.
Should be fast enough for a simple server, I think!

here's some links, although it's by redhat.
http://www.redhat.com/support/resources/web_ftp/apache.html

don't be intimidated, it's not that hard, it's actually one of the easiest servers to run.

if you are fairly new to linux and apache, i'd highly recommend picking up a good book on apache. it'll help you out when you get in a jam.

good luck

I am a newbie too. I hate linux for the same reason you have. But i love its good performance and powerful features. We will all be linux guru if we learn bit by bit. but that doesn't interest newbies. we need sweet taste in the beginning, and then we will have the commitment to learn something deeper. To make things MUCH easier for newbies, use Webmin. go search on google.com

download a RPM(good for newbies)

It is a web-based administrative program for remote controlling linux. It is a graphic-based program. Very easy to use.

It has a Apache mod. You should find it very friendly to use.
Configuring Apache in a matter of minutes.
